Clinical trials revealed that the rate Telaprevira, combined with strandartnym treatment gives positive results in approximately 75% of cases. But with conventional therapy, this figure was only 44%.
The study involved 1,095 people with hepatitis. During the 12 or 8 weeks they received Telaprevir or placebo. Of those who received 12 weeks of Telaprevir, 75% showed a sustained response to the virus, that is, the virus was detected in the blood after 24 weeks of the treatment. With regard Xeloda to patients receiving the 8 week course of treatment with, there were positive results in 69%.
Standard therapy interferon and ribavirin produce positive results within 24 or 48 weeks. Doctors say such high rates should prompt treatment more patients hepatitis.
